EPA Announces That It Will Not Enforce Actions for Violations of the Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule Until October 2010
CALINC Training reminds all professionals working on pre-1978 dwellings to take advantage of the postponement to get trained and certified to follow the lead-safe work practices in the RRP Rule.

VACAVILLE, CA, June 30, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- CALINC Training, the primary source for lead-based RRP certification in Northern California and the training division of CAL INC, California's premier environmental services firm, alerts all industry professionals of the latest pronouncement by the EPA regarding enforcement of the Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Final Rule (40 CRF 745). This delay in implementation ensures all professionals who have not been trained will have the time to attend an EPA approved training center to get RRP certified.

The EPA recently acknowledged the challenges the industry was having in getting the required firm certification and renovation worker training. So the EPA is offering additional time for renovation firms and workers to get trained and certified.

"We applaud the EPA's decision to delay enforcement for violations of the RRP Rule's certification requirements," said Mr. David Esparza, CEO of CAL INC. "This provides all contractors who have not yet been certified with the time to get into an approved training class and avoid any fines and other penalties."

Per the EPA's recent memorandum announcing the delay, implementation of enforcement of the rule has changed as follows:

- Until October 1, 2010, EPA will not take enforcement action for violations of the RRP Rule's firm certification requirement.
- For violations of the RRP Rule's renovation worker certification requirement, EPA will not enforce against individual renovation workers if the person has applied to enroll in, or has enrolled in, by not later than September 30, 2010, a certified renovator class to train contractors in practices necessary for compliance with the final rules. Renovators must complete the training by December 31, 2010.

"CALINC Training, provides both onsite and offsite classes on virtually a daily basis," said Carla Wroten, Director of Training Services at CALINC Training. "We have certified over 1800 professionals in 2010, and look forward to ensuring that all industry professionals get the training they need to follow the lead-safe work practices in the RRP rule."
