Torrey Hills Technologies, LLC Receives Funding for Coal Mine Safety Project from National Science Foundation
Torrey Hills Technologies, LLC (THT) has been awarded funding from National Science Foundation (NSF) for a coal mine safety project entitled ˇ°"SBIR Phase I: Capture and Use of Coal Mine Ventilation Air Methane (VAM)."

SAN DIEGO, CA, June 15, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Torrey Hills Technologies, LLC (THT) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded funding from National Science Foundation (NSF) for a coal mine safety project entitled ˇ°"SBIR Phase I: Capture and Use of Coal Mine Ventilation Air Methane (VAM)."

The $149,986 NSF Phase I grant is effective July 1, 2011 and expires December 31, 2011. Torrey Hills Technologies, LLC Scientist Lai Qi said the grant will be utilized for research and development of a new technology intended to improve coal mine safety. The principle of this new technology is to use photo-catalytic oxidation to remove explosive methane gas from coal mines.
