Glenn A. Costie Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Health Care Administration
Mr. Costie focuses his efforts on improving care for veterans

POPLAR BLUFF, MO, November 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Glenn Costie, Chief Executive Officer of John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in health care administration.

As the CEO of John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, Mr. Costie oversees health care services for veterans in 29 counties, bringing care to 20,000 veterans. He is also charged with creating a culture of collaboration and safety, as well as coaching future leaders. He is responsible for overseeing a medical facility of 58 beds and assuring high levels of quality and patient satisfaction. Before he came to southeast Missouri, Mr. Costie led a $750 million capital improvement program for the Department of Veterans Affairs that consolidated two complex medical campuses and created a system of 15 outpatient clinics serving northeast Ohio. This process was completed over a 10-year period, and increased the number of veterans who had access to care from 40,000 to 100,000. It brought their care closer to their homes so that they would not have to travel for several hours to reach a VA facility. Mr. Costie continues this work in southeastern Missouri. He recently completed the renovation of five outpatient clinics, which will enhance care for veterans.

Mr. Costie received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech in 1984. He is a fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives and was recently certified as a mentor and coach by the Department of Veteran Affairs. In 2005, he was recognized for his work during the hurricane season by the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Costie serves on several boards including the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity, and is the president of the Advisory Board for Three Rivers College.
